Access

Disabled access: The garden is mid restoration and the path surfaces are quite uneven in places. Wheelchairs pushed by a strong carer and scooters with a high clearance are able to use the perimeter path. The garden is not suitable for people using Zimmer frames.

SAFETY

Please note that the Japanese Garden is an ornamental garden and in order to retain authenticity there are many different shapes and sizes of stones dotted around the site.   We have noticed that some visitors choose to leave the perimeter path and walk on the ornamental paths, which have been laid using ancient, uneven stones.  In order to keep as much of the garden as accessible as possible for the enjoyment of everyone, it is imperative that visitors take extra care when walking round the Japanese Garden.  We have chosen not to install warning signs infront of each path and structure in keeping with the heritage of the garden.  Our visitors enter the garden at their own risk.
