Hosted in our newly built Garden Pavilion in the tranquil grounds of The Japanese Garden and presented by textile enthusiast & teacher Sue Crawley.
Boro means rags in Japanese. In the past people would patch their clothes and household textiles repeatedly, mainly using blue and indigo scrapes which were widely available. This would be done so often that all that was left was the repairs and little would be seen of the original item.
This workshop would involve:
Entrance to The Japanese Garden prior to the workshop
Short Introduction : What is Boro? Uses of Boro stitching, examples of Boro
Explanation & Demonstration : Of simple stitches and how to Boro stitch pieces.
All fabric, threads and equipment are supplied, and you will have your own piece of Boro inspired textile art to take away at the end of the session.

Once shipped our products usually arrive within 3 working days . For addresses in the Scottish Highlands this may be slightly longer.

We ship our orders using the Royal Mail. We will send a shipping confirmation email once your order has been shipped.
Do you offer local delivery?

Do you offer in store pick up?
Yes. You can choose this option at checkout. We will email you once your order is ready to collect. This is usually within 3-5 working days.
We have a 30-day return policy for shop items only, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. Please note this does not include any of our tickets or activity bookings, these are all non refundable and non transferable to another day.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, you can contact us at sales@cowdengarden.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. We cannot refund shipping costs and return shipping will not be covered by the charity.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalised items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
